Chet Faker Talks Electro Bangers, Working With Flume And Potentially Quitting Music

Chet Faker just wants to be honest.

Thoughtful, amiable, self-aware, the 25 year old Melbourne musician born Nick Murphy first came to public consciousness three years ago with a Hype Machine topping “No Diggity” cover. Since then he’s released his debut EP, put out a collaborative EP with Flume, toured the world, and now, released a debut album whose main theme he says is honesty.
His honesty extends to this interview where he discusses the benefits of keeping a diary (sample line: “I did a cover of “No Diggity”. My friends seem to like it.”), working with Flume (“That dude just churns tunes out,”) and a career outside of music (“I’m questioning whether I even want to keep doing this forever, to be honest.”)

Yep, there’s that word again.

Chet Faker’s debut album ‘Built On Glass’ is out now.
Chet Faker tours nationally in June.
