Britney Spears and Takashi Murakami For POP

If one word describes the juggernaut careers of former crazy person Britney Spears and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, it would be pop. It’s fitting then that the two should collaborate on POP Magazine’s Winter 2010 cover which features Britney in a Japanese photo booth of Murakami’s design. Think 80s inspired bridal accessories, disco ball lighting, super kawaii vibes and the anthropomorphic daisies/mushrooms for which Murakami is known.

Says Spears on working with the Louis Vuitton/Kanye West collaborator: “I loved working with Takashi. I especially liked how he took high-end fashion and incorporated it with Japanese manga. We looked at a lot of characters and artwork before we shot, so I could get a feel for what he was looking for.

POP Magazine’s Britney-starring issue hits newsstands September 1.
