Break Out That Eyeliner, My Chemical Romance Are Teasing *Something*

Forget everyone who looks down on the era and the genre. Being an emo kid was dope as hell.

You got to feel that giddy pang of glee whenever your order from Interpunk came in. You were in on the ground floor with all this social media bizzo because MySpace and LiveJournal and MakeOutClub were king. And nowadays you get to strut out of work on a Friday blasting Taking Back Sunday‘s ‘Tell All Your Friends‘ because that shit holds. up.
And atop the Mount Olympus of bands of that era sits the almighty My Chemical Romance, who shot to global prominence on the back of a swathe of shithot albums before breaking up, seemingly for good, back in 2013.
The New Jersey group has largely gone on to other projects since then, with lead singer Gerard Way forging a reasonably successful solo career for example. But earlier this morning, the MCR factory once again showed signs of life, with the band posting… something… onto the internet.
A short video appeared on their social channels featuring naught but a waving flag set to the opening piano bars of ‘Welcome to the Black Parade,’ followed by a cryptic date: September 23rd, 2016.

Though speculation is rife as to what any of this actually means, it should be stated that September 23rd is exactly one month out from the tenth anniversary of the release of ‘The Black Parade‘ which explains the accompanying MCRX acronym that now adorns their Twitter and Facebook profile picture (get it? MCR X? MCR Ten? ya get it?).

Now, as for what they’ve got planned, that’s still very much up in the air.
A reunion? An album tour? A tenth anniversary re-release? Some sort of performance art piece? WHO KNOWS.
But one thing’s for sure: Something is happening.
