The good folk at Bluesfest continue to hand out gifts at a rate far greater than any rotund man in red could ever hope to. Just when you thought this year’s lineup was complete, this morning the festival has gone an casually announced that MS. LAURYN HILL her-dang-self is hopping over to Byron Bay for a very sneaky exclusive set.
Bluesfest revealed this morning that Hill, one of the most influential artists in the history of R&B, will be performing on Easter Friday as the festival takes over the long weekend at the end of March.
The surprise announcement this morning caps off an incredibly diverse lineup that already sports the likes of Lionel Richie, Robert Plant, Kesha, John Butler Trio, Tash Sultana, Seal, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, José González, Seu Jorge, Morcheeba, and The New Power Generation, among a litany of others.
The presence of Ms. Lauryn Hill pushes this year’s lineup over the edge into one of the most top-to-bottom stacked in the festival’s long history.
Organisers have warned fans that remaining tickets for the festival are moving fast, so if you’re planning on heading to Byron to catch a piece of the action you might want to get your ass into gear.
The 29th annual Byron Bay Bluesfest is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 29th, before it wraps up on Monday April 2nd.
