Bloggers Raise Money For Disaster Relief

Last week, our bros at MP3 blog Rose Quartz launched a fundraiser compilation to raise money for Christchurch earthquake relief. The Christchurch disaster was close to home for Rose Quartz, with two of their four contributors calling the New Zealand city home. The mixtape features local and international artists “who’ve recently played and hang out…at venues that are now virtually rubble,”. Featuring unreleased tracks from Shocking Pinks and Thurston Moore, new material from Dolphins Into The Future and Sun Araw and songs by local Christchurch artists, the compilation can be downloaded for free but a donation is optional and, you know, the right thing to do if you have anything vaguely resembling a heart. Download/give here.

At the other end of the spectrum stylist and blogger Hayley Hughes (better known as Fashion Hayley) is also feeling the charity vibes, coordinating an ‘SOS Japan’ eBay auction which is live now. Designers such as Romance Was Born, Limedrop, Henry Roth, Make Believe and Gala Curios have donated items to be included, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Japan fund. The devastation in Japan is particularly close to Hughes’ heartstrings, as it is a country she has often visited and if you’re a regular reader of her blog, one which she draws considerable inspiration from.

Awesome work guys.
