Bjork and Sigur Ros named friends of the united nations

I don’t know much about Iceland. When I was younger I remember being taught that contrary to their names Iceland was actually quite green and Greenland was actually quite icy, I’m not too sure how true that is…

I do know however, that Iceland’s two biggest exports Sigur Ros and Bjork (neither ice nor land as I previously thought) gave a free concert to promote environmental issues such as dam building in their homeland. The concert held in Reykjavik was attended by over 300,000 people which amounts to 10 percent of the nation’s population. To put it into perspective that’s like Jet and Wolfmother playing a free concert and 2 millions Australians rocking up. Maybe not.
