Billie Eilish has a new look, a new era, and now she’s got a whole album of new music on the way. We’ve been waiting a minute for it, and now she’s blessing us with it – the follow up to her record-smashing debut.

Her sophomore album, titled Happier Than Ever, is due to land in our laps on July 30 and to whet our appetites and bolster our excitement, she’s also dropping a brand new single this week.

Yep, not only do we have the delicious news of a second album from William Eyelash over here, she’s also gifting us a new single in the wee hours of Friday morning (2am AEST, for those playing at home and determined to get up for it).

Coming in with 16 tracks, including ones we’ve already been treated to like Therefore I Am and my future, 19-year-old Billie is forging on with the method that saw her have massive success with her debut album – no other songwriters or producers, just her writing and her brother FINNEAS on production. It’s a tried and true format, no need to fuck around with something that clearly works so well.

When she announced the album in the wee hours of our morning, Billie said it’s her most favourite thing she’s created to date. Considering bad guy was such a huuuuge hit, I cannot wait to hear her at her best and most confident.

“This is my favourite thing I’ve ever created,” she wrote.

“I am so excited and nervous and eager for you to hear it. I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one.”

I mean she’s so stoked on this new creative offering that Billie’s gone and projected it on the Marble Arch in London. Why? Because it’s clearly ART.

Billie Eilish has also gone and dropped a whole merch line for the new album, following the same colour palate of cosy neutrals, earthy tones, and bright pinks. It’s a whole mood and a vibe and an energy, and I wish to live in that matching bone-coloured tracksuit forever.

Happier Than Ever is out through Darkroom / Interscope Records and locally through Universal Music Australia on July 30, and you can pre-save or pre-order it over here. It will be released on all your fave streaming services, as well as exclusive colour-way vinyl, CD, photobook, and cassette – because the 90s are back and I’m very here for it.
