He’s the original Dead Prez – the ex commander of all things illin’. Bill Clinton has bagged another slice of street cred this week after announcing a charity event which he’ll co-host with rapper Drake.
The smooth talking silverback – along with friends like Jamie Fox, Kerry Washington and Brett Ratner – will use the event taking place on Sunset Boulevard to further raise awareness for his charity foundation, The Clinton Foundation. And also to further raise awareness of how “dope” the man is.
Here’s the thing: Rappers and Politicians have always been big time enemies. To quote the late great Tupac:
“Uhh.. dear Mr. President whas happenin?
I’m writin you because, s**t is still real f**ked up in my neighborhood
Pretty much the same way, right around the time when you got elected
Ain’t nothin changed“
But when you break it down, they’re not so different. Both love to preach their pseudo-revolutions, both love a good team of hired goons, and both, at the end of the day, are pretty much in it for the bitchez and the money. So Bill Clinton has done the natural thing here.
If we’re lucky slick Willie might even produce the sax during Drake’s performance.
