For the last few weeks, the Beyhive has been buzzing with rumours about an impending split between Beyoncé and Jay-Z – there are reports that the pair have been sleeping in separate hotels on the final leg of their On The Run tour, that they’ve sat through crisis meetings with lawyers and promoters, that Beyoncé herself has been searching for a place of her own in New York.
Earlier this week, one of Jay’s rumoured mistresses, released a fairly unpleasant diss track against Bey. Perhaps tired of all the noise, Beyoncé herself has just addressed the subject, albeit in typically arch Beyoncé fashion. Overnight, she took to Instagram and posted a picture of herself in a Brooklyn Nets jersey emblazoned with Jay’s surname, Carter.
The picture immediately set Instagram on fire, as with everything its queen Bey says or does, and it has been liked almost a million times in two hours. Presumably, this photo is her way of saying she’s still Team Carter.
The American leg of the tour wrapped up on Wednesday, and the pair will appear in Paris, before the release of a HBO documentary in September.
