Beyonce ‘Crazy in Love’ tops NME song of the decade list

I’m not ‘Crazy In Love’ with Beyonce’s track of the same name but apparently NME (and the rest of Pedestrian HQ) are. So much so it’s been named number one in their Top 100 Songs Of The Decade list.

Luckily she did come first though, who would have known what Mr Kanye †I’m a douche bag’ West would have said if she did otherwise.

MGMT †Time To Pretend’ came in second. Really NME ? “Banquet” would take †Time To Pretend’ out for a nice seafood dinner and never call it back, ever. But NME ranks their bitches differently to I and put the great Bloc Party track somewhere down in the 30’s. If I was Kele Okereke I’d write NME an email with the title saying something along the line of †Don’t Insult My Musical Brilliance’.

The Strokes must be in a BJ payoff relationship with the music brag mag because they’ve been hanging around the top of every NME list lately. That or they actually deserve it. Of course MIA was up there. She placed number three with ‘Paperplanes’.

If there was the great songs that turn grating after 100+ listens of the decade list no doubt Outkast’s †Hey Ya’ would be well up for number one but in this list they unfortunately have to settle with fourth. But you don’t get a ribbon for fourth do you Outkast? Klaxons, Blur, Arctic Monkey’s make up the top ten spots.

Yeah Yeah Yeah got two in the top twenty, oh how proud must Karen O must be. I wonder if she’s thinking her new slightly †I sold my musical soul for money’ tunes deserved a start aswell. Her and the lads from Kings of Leon should have a chat about it.

But hey these are my opinions which you’ll no doubt oppose, so what do you think of the list? Any real surprises? Who should be on the list? If you were NME who would your top ten songs of the decade be?
