Turns Out Ben & Liam Are Jumping Ship From Triple J To A Commercial Radio Gig

Following on from this morning’s bombshell announcement from Triple J that Ben & Liam‘s tenure in the Breakfast chairs will be coming to an abrupt end come the end of next week, more details have now emerged about the new deal that’s yoinking the lads out of the youth broadcaster for good. And as it turns out, it’s a plum gig in commercial radio that’s coaxing them back home to Adelaide.

Nova 91.9 FM has confirmed they have signed Ben & Liam up to take over the station’s Adelaide breakfast shift in 2020.

The soon-to-be ex-Triple J lads will replace outgoing Nova Adelaide breakfast shifters Dylan Lewis and Hayley Pearson as part of a revamped programming lineup in 2020.

Nova bosses moved quickly to trumpet their new signing this morning after Triple J announced Ben & Liam’s departure, asserting Ben & Liam were “top-class radio broadcasters” and that this was “the perfect opportunity to bring the boys back to their hometown of Adelaide.”

In conjunction with this morning’s announcement, Triple J also confirmed that the Coda Conduct duo of Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett would be taking over the soon-to-be vacant Breakfast role permanently in 2020, while Lucy Smith will fill-out the remainder of the year’s broadcasts after Ben & Liam depart next Friday.

Both Ben and Liam have thanked Triple J listeners on social media following this morning’s announcement.

Nova bosses reportedly have high hopes for Ben & Liam in the Adelaide Breakfast role. The station currently lags behind both ABC Adelaide and Mix 102.3 in the key local timeslot.

The Ben & Liam Show is reportedly set to premiere on Nova 91.9 Adelaide in January next year.
