Barry O’Farrell To Implement Sydney’s Lock-Out Laws From February 24th

Having previously abandoned any remaining semblance of logic, NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell this morning announced that the newly-formed 1:30am lock-out laws and their associated legislation will be imposed from February 24th and not from April, as previously indicated.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Mr O’Farrell says the new timetable – which also includes the cessation of drinks service at 3:00am in bars and at 10pm in bottle shops – will ensure watering holes across the central Sydney ‘entertainment precinct’ of the CBD, Kings Cross, Darlinghurst, Cockle Bay, The Rocks and Haymarket and their patrons “are fully aware of these changes and are ready when they take effect” in nineteen days.

New laws installing a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years for fatal assaults where the assailant is intoxicated were implemented last weekend. Cue the petitions.
