Here’s B-Wise Getting Spicy On A Classic RHCP Jam For ‘Like A Version’

Whoever said that the classics go out of style was a liar and a bum, I tell you. We say time and time again that Triple J‘s annual Friday hootenanny Like a Version is always at its best when visiting artist delve into the archives rather than pluck a tune from today’s regular rotation list, and today’s effort from Sydney champion B-Wise is absolutely no exception to that.

Replete in one of Nigeria‘s absolutely bang-on World Cup outfits, B-Wise and a full band entered Aunty’s storied halls and took a little inspiration from California circa 1991, sprinkling blood, sugar, sex, and magik on a rendition of the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ iconic track Under the Bridge.

It’s a cover that really nicely straddles the line between faithfully recreating the original while putting a unique and fresh spin on it, and there’s some sparkling guitar work underpinning the whole shebang.

Try listening to this without rushing over to Spotify to cue up some more Chili Peppers immediately afterwards.

Yes sir, that is the good gear right there. The good, good, real good stuff.

Now if you don’t mind, we’ll be over here having a nice time air-riffing our way through Californication for the next hot few minutes.
