Australian Stars Perform Nick Cave’s “The Ship Song”

The Sydney Opera House is just as deserving of a signature tune as New York City’s Empire State Building. Instead of getting an attempted Oz equivalent of Alicia Keys and Jay-Z to pump out a fresh single, a much loved song by one of the country’s great bands has been chosen to pay homage to the Opera House’s sails.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds‘ enduring ballad and wedding favourite “The Ship Song” has been re-imagined by a group of Australia’s top performers for The Ship Song Project as a tribute to the iconic building and its history.

Neil Finn, Martha Wainwright, The Temper Trap and Daniel Johns are among those who have lent their voices for the cover performance, which also features cameos by The Australian Ballet, John Bell of The Bell Shakespeare Company, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
