Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ Video Turns 1 & I’m Still So Fucking Grateful For Kris Jenner

Ariana Grande‘s “thank u, next” music video has officially turned 1, and I simply can’t believe it’s been a whole damn year since Ari single-handedly taught us Petty Penelopes™ of the world to express gratitude at the end of relationships. Safe to say, the 5-minute-and-30-second production, featuring the likes of Kris Jenner and Jennifer Coolidge, and paying homage to Mean Girls, Bring It On, 13 Going on 30 and Legally Blonde, well and truly broke the internet and subsequently spearheaded Ari’s most successful era to date. Our video baby is growing  up… Why am I so emotional?

Shall we briefly discuss some of the video’s numerous accolades? It has amassed over 450 million views on YouTube and received 5 nominations at this years’ MTV Music Video Awards. The song itself has over 960 million streams on Spotify and earned her an ARIA #1, as well as her 1st Billboard #1 single.

Today, Ari took to Instagram to celebrate the one-year anniversary, posting a variety of BTS snaps.

For old times’ sake, let’s sit back and enjoy the cinematic experience that is “thank u, next”. I’m (still) so fucking grateful for Kris Jenner’s concluding “thank you next, bitch” zinger. A timeless line, and one that I will continue to use in any situation ever.

The cultural impact. The power. The influence. This video literally shaped summer of 2018/19.

P.S. Big Sean‘s page in the burn book, which reads “So cute, so sweet (could still get it)”, is still so spicy and, quite frankly, the energy I crave heading into the summer.
