It’s ok to have a tenuous, fractured relationship with law enforcement, but when they’re doing the work of the lord it absolutely warrants applause.
Police in Denmark, arbiters of artistic quality that they are, have taken it upon themselves to protect the public not only from crimes against the law, but crimes against eardrums as well.
Cops in the northern Danish town of Aalborg have shut down a busker, not because he was physically harassing people, but rather aurally. The story goes that old mate was playing a rendition of ‘Wonderwall‘ that sucked so tremendously that authorities had to step in and put an end to it.
The Nordjyllands police website detailed the shocking incident, which reportedly occurred outside a 7-Eleven this past Thursday, August 17th.
The (translated) report of the incident asserted that the guitarist was playing “loud, bad and noisy,” and that “he did not sound like Liam Gallagher.”
A patrol officer approached the busker, stopping him mid-song, before he was “sent home to practice.” My god.
In an added sting, the Danish police site added the brutal full-stop “Just because you can play ‘Wonderwall’ does not mean you should.”
Let this be a stern lesson to you: The street corner is not a rehearsal space. Tighten up your shit.
