Contrary to the intuition of online bookmakers, sleepy eyed siblings Angus & Julia Stone took out top spot with “Bug Jet Plane” while jaunty Melbournians Little Red came in second with the most subdued form of brain penetration ever, “Rock It”. Ou Est Le Swimming Pool were the highest placed internationals with “Dance The Way I Feel” while Bird Of Tokyo’s “Plans” and Boy & Bear’s winsome cover of Crowded House’s “Fall At Your Feet” rounded out the top five.
Said Triple J Music Director Richard Kingsmill: “A lot of people thought Cee Lo had the top spot in the bag. But if you look back across 2010, Angus & Julia Stone’s album just kept on selling and never faded. It was one of those records that never had huge hype behind it but people just kept on coming back to it. And the universal charm of ‘Big Jet Plane’ meant it was destined to be the album’s biggest hit.“.
