Angus & Julia Stone Join ‘Twilight’ Soundtrack, Make Billions

Angus & Julia Stone are the only Australian band to be featured on the new Twilight film, Breaking Dawn.

The film version of Stephanie Meyer‘s final novel, which has been divided into two parts for maximum story-telling effect/consumer dollars is among the most anticipated in tween-land, and being on the soundtrack is a big, big deal. Just ask Muse, who were able to crack America for the first time after being featured in each of the last three films. Artists as varied as Bon Iver and Thom Yorke have previously benefited from the soundtrack bite to the neck.

Twilight may not only be the most successful vampire franchise this side of Leslie Nielsen, but it’s also a veritable cash cow for indie musicians and a good way to tell what new talent is worth watching. Also on the soundtrack are rapper/savant Theophilus London, British trio The Joy Formidable, glam-pop quartet Noisettes and Philadelphia singer-songwriter Christina Perri. Sticking with the tradition, however, Edward and Bella will be getting married to the sweet folk sounds of Iron & Wine.

(There’s also some big number by Bruno Mars, because he totally suits the dark, gothic theme.)

Still no word on whether Angus Stone wore shoes to the recording studio for this one.
