Look, you can gain a lot of knowledge from things like textbooks and journal articles, but there ain’t nothing quite like being taught by someone who’s undeniably aware of what’s up. More often than not, these lecturers/teachers are across what’s happening in the industry they’re talking about because they’re literally active in it – and there’s no better example than TAFE Queensland teacher/Amy Shark band-member, Brad Hosking.
Hosking’s had an extensive career. From running a recording studio to producing tracks for big names, he’s pretty much seen it all when it comes to music in Australia. We recently caught up with him during a performance with Amy Shark at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and the tips/tricks he divulged are worth their weight in gold for those game on getting into the music industry.
Best of all, Hosking proves that there’s more than one avenue to achieve success in relation to music. Sure, it’s one fickle business, but that shouldn’t put you off pursuing your dream career.
