Alicia Keys Will Perform At The 2013 ARIA Awards

Alicia Keys, noughties R’n’B superstar and Girl On Fire is touring Australia soon, and has just confirmed that her first performance will be a medley at the 2013 ARIA Awards.

“I’m so excited to be performing at this year’s ARIA Awards in the beautiful city of Sydney,” said Keys. “It’s been a little while since I’ve been in Australia and I’m ecstatic to be back!! Being on tour is an incredible journey and I’m so honored that I get to share it with my family all over the world. No better way to set off the last leg of my worldwide tour in Australia than on the ARIA Awards stage!!” Keep rockin’ those exclamation marks, girl.

Having already announced a live performance lineup including Flume, Tame Impala, Birds Of Tokyo, Vance Joy, Bliss N Eso, Jessica Mauboy, Samantha Jade, Sheppard, The Potbelleez, Stafford Brothers and Alison Wonderland, (and a roster of award winners which will probably include Flume, Flume and Flume) it was only a matter of time before a big overseas player was invited to endure the overlong ceremony of Rock Eisteddfod-levels of production that only the ARIA‘s can muster.

An almost laughable combination of ignorance of and apathy towards Australian music seems to have been a prerequisite for international ARIA guests in the past, but Keys recently tweeted the super feels she has for Flight Facilities, so she’s at least one step ahead of previous imports like Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams.

The ARIA Awards will be held on Sunday, December 1 at The Star, Sydney and
broadcast on GO!. Be sure to put in your two cents on the Aussie music
industry by participating in the public voting categories, which close in a week.
Keys will follow up her ARIA performance with a national tour,
supported by John Legend.
