The Ole’ Rat Dog Alex Dyson Is Returning To Triple J In 2018

The great radio shufflin’ of 2017 continues, with Triple J officially announcing its lineup for 2018 a short while ago. The big news? Long-time station favourite and weirdly elastic man Alex Dyson will be returning to beat the drum once again. For a little while, at least.

The biggest permanent shuffle of the announcement comes in the form of Zan Rowe‘s replacement on Mornings. While Zan herself is taking her hugely successful morning show format across to Double J, the Triple version of the show will be filled next year by Good Nights host, the freakin’ excellent Linda Marigliano. Marigliano will shoulder the morning shift from 9am till midday from Monday to Friday, with the recurring Doctor Karl segment on Thursday mornings also confirmed to return.

As for Dyson, he’ll be returning to the airwaves solo, having previously helmed the Breakfast shift with both Tom Ballard and Matt Okine. Dyson will be taking over the Lunch timeslot from midday till 2pm for the first part of the year, while regular host Gen Fricker covers the remaining period of Veronica Milsom‘s maternity leave. Gen has been co-hosting the drive shift with Lewis Hobba on relief while Milsom is off birthing unto the world the most precious of radio babies.

Elsewhere, Marigliano’s shift to Mornings means a new host for Good Nights in the form of frequent Triple J fill-in Bridget Hustwaite, who finally gets her own permanent slot on the night time shift in 2018.

Longtime Home & Hosed host Dom Alessio has also revealed he’ll be leaving Triple J at the end of the year, and today’s announcement confirms that regular Triple J Unearthed host Declan Byrne will be stepping in the fill that slot from next year onwards.

So there you have it, mates. Triple and Double J promised big, and didn’t they deliver.

In 2018, it’s bloody well time to pack ‘er up once again.
