Airbnb Launches Service For Booking Niche Music Events W/ Up & Coming Artists

Airbnb made a huge amount of announcements this week about the expansion of their home-sharing accommodation site. Along with luxury stays and premium accom offerings, they also dropped a doozy for music-lovers – Airbnb Concerts.

The concept is this. Excellent, up & coming artists and bands performing in unique spaces with a cap on attendees. Think converted laundromats, small churches, and wine cellars over your typical bar or gig venue – with around 50 people max there.

The majority of acts will be folks you’ve either never heard of but have some burgeoning hype around them, or artists who are on the rise but haven’t yet made the big-time. Artists who have already done Airbnb Concerts are Arizona, Grace Weber, Martin Luther McCoy, and Stone Foxes, for example.

However, they’re very much keen to get some big names doing the intimate gigs, too. In fact, they launched the new offering in Sydney with a 90 pax Vance Joy gig this week. So expect so see some big-name musicians getting involved – especially ones that suit an intimate space for their sounds.

Some current ones on offer globally atm? A hidden gig on a houseboat in Amsterdam:

A bluegrass gig at the San Francisco Boathouse:

The v popular AFROHAUS brunch in LA:

And a Hawaiian slack key performance in Kapaa:

Airbnb Concerts have rolled out globally across 25 cities, but they’re looking at expanding this through the year – so expect to see some Aussie spots getting the niche and intimate gigs asap.
