Adele’s Head Graces Cover of UK Vogue

The meteoric rise of British soul sister Adele continues unabated of late with her most recent accolade coming from the world of fashion as the covergirl of Vogue UK‘s October edition:

Vogue UK has chosen a woman befitting of a magazine cover. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter has been smashing chart records around the world with her album 21, and is up for Britain’s most prestigious music award, The Mercury Prize, which will be announced tonight.

Recently there’s been an increasing trend of featuring fuller figured girls on magazine covers, and with Adele Vogue has definitely shone the spotlight on someone who doesn’t look like a typical Vogue cover model – which is terrific. It’s a beautiful cover pic but they have gone for a pretty obvious ‘fat-person-on-the-cover’ type of shot: a tight closeup of her face with her body completely hidden.

The voluptuous star talks body image in the cover story (of course), joking that she’s “the face of full-fat Coke”. But she also says she wouldn’t subscribe to fad diets like many celebrities do:

“I’ve seen people where is rules their lives, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs and how it wears them down. And I don’t want that in my life. I have insecurities of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”

Ahh. So refreshing… – Just like a full-fat Coke.
