360 Goes Deep On His Road To Recovery As ‘I’m Sorry’ Racks Up 7M Views

Over the weekend, 360 took the internet by surprise with the release of a track called ‘I’m Sorry‘, in which he opened up about the drug addiction that spiralled out of control last year, bluntly saying “I should be dead.”
In the track, the rapper, real name Matt Colwell, spoke about the drug habit he hid, before overdosing on Nurofen Plus at a gig, and waking up in hospital on suicide watch, and embarking on a difficult road to recovery.
In a recent interview with News Corp, Colwell explained how his addiction developed, saying:

“I’ve always had problems with my back. I think at the same time I played it up. I probably never needed the strong shit I was given. I had a go-carting accident when I was quite young, too. That really messed me up and I was in intensive care getting morphine. To be honest I was hiding it from everyone. Everyone knew I was drinking and partying. No one knew what I was doing with the painkillers. I had such a high tolerance.”
He said that his addiction ran a gamut of drugs – “80mg OxyContin, Xanax, Valium and Hypnodorm but also dabbling in heroin” – but that he chose to take painkillers on the road because “I wasn’t going to take smack on tour with me.”
Colwell explained the lengths that he would go to to conceal his addiction, including “chemist shopping”, and avoiding repeat visits to the same places to purchase over-the-counter painkillers, in order to minimise suspicion.
His secret was exposed last year when his tour manager found him convulsing on the floor before a show, having taken 120 pills. He says now of this experience:

“Right before the tour I was trying to get off it. I was trying to wean myself off it without anyone knowing. When I was in hospital it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. I said ‘I’m fucking done. I’m ready to stop.’”
A year sober, Colwell hopes to release a new 360 album this year, and when asked what he would say to anyone concealing an addiction:
‘”I would say to them: Tell someone that you’re close to. Family or friends so other people know. Get in to a detox program. The fucked up thing with the detox program is there’s a waiting list but if you make that first call and get your name in the system that’s the right first step. The most important thing is be honest.”
The video for ‘I’m Sorry’ has been viewed more than seven million times since 360 posted it last weekend:
