You Can Now Invest In A Melb eSports Team If You’re Into That Kinda Thing

An Australian eSports club called ORDER is gearing up to become the first of its kind to be crowdfunded by the public, opening expressions of interest (EOI) today. The campaign will allow fans and enthusiasts to invest what they want in the team in exchange for equity in the business.

Based in Melbourne, ORDER has competed on a global level, recently taking out the top prize at the World Electronic Sports Games’ APAC regional finals in 2017. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team will play the world finals in March, as well as the Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland.

“The community can now own a stake in one of the top performing brands in APAC and be involved in the fastest growing sport in the world. We established ORDER in 2017 and our teams have topped local and international ladders since,” owner and AFL consultant, Gerard Murphy, said in a press release.

Part of the money will towards the team’s new Melbourne CBD headquarters, House of ORDER, which will be an Australian first facility that’ll pack a studio for tournaments and events, themed gaming lounges, ORDER offices, merch, and most importantly, a bar.

“House of ORDER will put Australia on the map for eSports and bring us up to speed with the likes of the US and South Korea, who already have these types of facilities and therefore have some of the most competitive teams in the world,” says ORDER’s general manager and League of Legends Oceanic Pro League commentator, Jake ‘Spawn‘ Tiberi.

“eSports is taking the world by storm. It’s getting more popular by the day so it’s a very exciting time for ORDER and an even more exciting time for our growing fan base.”

Given ASIC only just issued crowd-sourced equity funding licences in January this year, ORDER’s is one of the first equity crowdfunding campaigns in the country.

If you’re keen to get involved, you can suss out the team page here, and the crowdfunding page here. Gaming fans will be given priority access to EOIs for a week, then they’ll open to the general public.
