Okay, so we thought monogramming was kinda reaching the end of it’s fashion life-span. Lately it seems you can get everything under the sun monogrammed, and it’s like – do we need to have our initials on that much shit? Surely not.
Except… as with every fashion trend, along comes a piece that blows you the hell away. Like the time in 2007 when you thought you were done with checkered Vans slip-ons, and then they released RED ones? That perfectly went with your Avril Lavigne-esque, single red hair streak? Well, this bag is absolutely that moment for the monogram trend.
Alt. Armour is the style bebe of a painfully cool gang of 20-somethings, including Instagram food queens Eating Up With The Hannashians and Josh Joynes of Cosmopolitan mag. They managed to get into all of our brains and emerge with this fire take on monogramming. While everyone else was continuing with embroidered M’s and S’s, they were like “but what about large, f-off metal lettering?”
“Over the past few years customisation seemed to blow up, but it just wasn’t being executed to our taste,” explains co-founder Josh. “So we thought we would sit down and design the perfect bag to accompany the trend. The metal letters made a lot of sense. There is something so strong and bold about hardware, and it’s a trend a lot of international designers are using. It’s sexy and strong – you can’t argue with that.”
Not ones to do things in halves, the bags are pebbled leather, with a heavy metal chain with an adjustable soft leather strap. According to their site, they’ll fit your iPhone, wallet and essentials – hello, new party bag. Currently, the letters are only available in silver, but gold is on the way – hell yeah.
“Alt.Armour is the very first customisable metal lettering accessory label,” says Josh. “Each bag is hand installed and made to order. We currently offer A – Z in silver, and can announce as of today that a gold lettering will be available in the coming months, with pre orders available in coming weeks.”
Best to keep an eye on the site in future, too – Josh hints there’s more to come besides bags.
“We’re launching a line of accessories to accompany our bags, these will be on pre order shortly,” he says. “No fur pom-poms – but unique, edgy designs that will echo our strong brand attitude.”
