Have you ever wondered how celebs get their hair so ridiculously shiny, bouncy and sleek? It’s a total joke.

Kaia, pls. You clearly have no idea what hair that needs a brush actually looks like.

Obviously they don’t do it themselves – if they did, they’d have the limp, frizzy mess that we deal with every day. No, they have incredible experts at their disposal to get every strand in place.

The good news? When you ask one of those experts, they’ll give you the sneaky 411 on how to replicate the look at home. We hit up Kendall Jenner‘s hairstylist Jonathan Colombini (who also happens to be the hair ambassador for Lady Jayne) and got him to spill all his secrets for flawless hair. And mates, they’re GOOD.

DON’T GET PRODUCT COMPLACENT

According to Jonathan, if you keep using the same set of shampoo and conditioner over and over, your hair’s going to get accustomed to it and that nice, shiny, bouncy finish you were getting once it dried off turns into a flat, limp mess.

“l always recommend stocking up on 3 different types of shampoo and conditioner, either within the same brand or not. Switch it up and keep your hair from getting bored,” he says.

He also reckons half the reason your hair isn’t as shiny as you wish it was post-wash is due to over-shampooing.

“Stylist tip? Shampoo every other to every two days but conditioning mid to ends daily. You’ll notice a big difference in shine,” he says.

GET TO KNOW THE TECH IN YOUR HAIRDRYER

All those nozzles and buttons actually do shit, folks. The three most important ones are the concentrator nozzle (the one that channels the air through a smaller, horizontal gap), the diffuser (large round scary looking thing) and the cool shot.

“Always be sure to use your concentrator on the tip of your dryer to prevent the heat flow being too direct on your hair. When you’re done, hit the cool button on your blow dryer while hair is around a radial brush to lock in that bounce and volume. This sets the curl and insures a long lasting blowdry.”

If you’ve got curly hair, the diffuser is your best mate for preventing frizz and getting your curls to dry all bouncy and coiled. It evens out the air pressure so you’re not blasting your strands, which helps keep your curls together.

YOU NEED THE RIGHT PRODUCTS FOR A FINISH THAT LASTS

Speaking of radial brushes, the right will will MAKE your bouncy blowdry.

“For maximum bounce & volume, my favourite tool is a ceramic radial brush. The grip of the bristles control any flyaway’s and the ceramic barrel heats up enough to give bend and bounce. My pick is this Lady Jayne version,” says Jonathan.

And don’t forget to end your style with product to seal the hair strand. This’ll prevent humidity from turning it frizzy, and will also help temporarily seal split ends, which can make your style look fluffy or messy.

“After you finish styling, apply a lightweight finishing cream. Think of it as lotion for your hair,” says Jonathan.

NEXT TIME YOU HIT THE HAIRDRESSERS, GET THE RIGHT CUT

The secret to actual rich girl hair, 24/7? A no-fuss cut that just falls perfectly, every time you dry it off. And that, friends, is apparently all in the layers.

“I think short layers are a thing of the past. It’s all about long layers, movement and lived-in textures rather than structure. Look rich by doing less!” says Jonathan.

AND WHEN YOU JUST CBF…

Got 4 day old dirty hair, or had a bit of a wild one and have 30 mins to pull yourself together for work? Dry shampoo, babey.

“Listen, if your hair isn’t 90% dry shampoo by Friday, you’re doing it all wrong honey!” says Jonathan.

PREACH.
