IKEA isn’t normally synonymous with “bohemian wonderland”. The Swedish homewares company is generally known for their cheap as chips, minimalist Scandi style – the kind of stuff you buy when you first move out, or want to furnish an entire room for under $500 bucks.
IKEA’s New Collection Is 100% Handmade & 100% Bohemian-Luxe
Enter their new JASSA range. Hoo boy, we were not expecting this kind of lushness from IKEA, guys. The design team was inspired by Indonesian and South East Asian craftsmanship, and came up with the most beautifully eclectic range we’ve ever seen from the brand.
And it’s not just “inspired”. They actually enlisted locals to assist in the design and production process. All the pieces are 100% handmade, and created out of natural materials like seagrass, cotton, rattan and bamboo. And because they’re handmade, each item has a uniqueness to it – meaning you can buy the same woven vases as your best mate, and know yours aren’t completely identical.
Our picks? These plates scream “we cost a lot of money”. Except they’ll only set you back $6.99.
And if you’re trying to turn your balcony/courtyard into a chilled-out paradise, this ‘sofa’ would look unreal next to a bunch of ferns/succulents.
The whole range is up on the IKEA site right now, and on sale in stores across Oz. Pretty confident it’ll sell out in no time though, so prob best to clear some time this weekend…
