Cult Danish Design Brand HAY Drops Super Scandi Collab With IKEA

IKEA have been spoofing out some seriously fire collaborations lately.

In 2017 alone, they’ve tapped Beyoncé and Lady Gaga‘s very own stylist for a wacky range, they’ve teamed up with luxury fragrance out Byredo to create a line of parfums and most recently, they announced a collection of things purely for your poochies.

But it’s their latest joint venture that’s sure to get considered design-lovers hot under the collar.

Renowned Danish design company HAY has joined forces with the Swedish conglomerate to produce the YPPERLIG collection; a capsule promising to explore the future of Scandinavian design.

It is verrrrrrry nice.

Each piece created by HAY X IKEA is a celebration of basics in light colours with high quality and clean design.

The collection boasts bigger items like sofas and coffee tables all the way through to smaller accessories like candle holders, textiles, containers and mirrors:

The collection even includes a makeover of the iconic IKEA FRAKTA bag in moss green, maroon and this mellow yellow, and low key, it’s heaps cooler than Balenciaga‘s $2,610 go at it:

Speaking of the bag, HAY founder and designer Mette Hay says:

“It’s one of the most known and used IKEA products, but one that no one appreciates as a design object. It’s a celebration of this iconic product.”

Now the important bit: the prices. They range steeply in the collection, with smaller items like the mirrors, vases and candle holders from $4.99 to $34.99. The bigger ticket items, like the sofas, chairs and tables, range from $55 to $799.

The collection was launched last night with a runway show at Carriageworks in Sydney and is available in stores and online now.

Deglig!
