HEJ U GÜYS: IKEA Just Opened Up Its Online Store To Sydney Shoppers

Remain calm, folks. But your life could’ve drastically changed this morning. IKEA, purveyor of flat packs and all things Swedish, have officially opened the virtual doors of its online shopping facility to all residents of Sydney. Rejoice!

The furniture giant announced it was extending its online delivery and click-and-collect services to Sydneysiders, via the TempeRhodes, and Marsden Park stores.

The online delivery services were available to shoppers in South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and Queensland. The click-and-collect service has also been open to shoppers in the Northern Territory, QLD, and Tasmania, operating as a regional delivery service.

But the expansion into Sydney (and, by extension, NSW) means the only state now not serviced by IKEA’s online services is Victoria (soz, mates).

The company made the announcement via their IKEA Family loyalty mailing list, with services switched on as of today, November 1st.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that it is ahhh… not exactly cheap.

Online delivery options carry with it a $129 service and delivery fee as a flat rate.

If you’re keen to click-and-collect – that is, do your shopping from home and swan in to have everything waiting for you to pick up – you’re still gonna incur a $40 service fee for the convenience.

Still, if you take the time you’d otherwise lose in the maze of the IKEA showroom into account, it’s more or less money well spent.

The online store is open to Sydney peeps right sodding now. Start fangin’ rugs into your shopping list, pals. It’s a new day, yes it is.

‘Course this doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to get some delicious, steaming IKEA hot dogs delivered to your door as well, but a guy can dream…
