Turns out the latest addition to Beyonce‘s property and asset empire is even closer to the divine than her Destiny’s Child gold records – it’s a literal church.
TMZ is reporting that Bey bought a church in New Orleans, quite close to where her sister Solange lives. The church was listed for $850,000, which seems eminently reasonable to anyone whose brains have been twisted and deformed by Australia‘s property market.
Here’s the building in question, courtesy of Redfin:
The church was built in the early 1900s, but has been out of commission for a number of years. Some more pics for ya:
The way I see it, there are three options for what she’s going to do with this church.
- She revives it and turns it once again into a thriving house of God and a bedrock for the local community.
- She turns it into a literal Church of Beyoncé, where she is venerated as some kind of fertility goddess and her devoted followers leave tributes of gold, incense and scented herbs at the foot of a vast statue of Bey.
- It gets decked out and turned into an opulent mansion and then she lives in it for roughly three days per year.
Odds are it’s probably number 3, but a man can dream.
