The Business Unit

Marketing and Communications is responsible for the management of Arts Centre Melbourne’s Marketing, Online, Communications and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services. The department coordinates the integrated planning and implementation of campaigns for external hirers and Arts Centre Melbourne presented programming. The department also manages the coordination of marketing for tourism and complementary services including the membership and donors program, Sunday Market, food and beverage outlets and the car park. Marketing and Communications are the brand advocates for Arts Centre Melbourne and ensure that the brand reflects our vision and values. The Business Unit is focused on increasing the profile and patronage of Arts Centre Melbourne and engaging a greater and more diverse range of audiences through the delivery of targeted and integrated marketing and publicity. The alignment with the Development, Ticketing and Visitor Experience departments aid in maintaining a consistency across the entire customer journey – through ACM’s owned, earned and paid channels

About the Position

As the Media Advisor/Publicist you will be responsible for responding to Arts Centre Melbourne’s strategies for audience development and brand awareness and working under the direction of the Media Manager and in collaboration with the Marketing Campaign and Social teams, devise and deliver integrated PR/communications campaigns in support of Arts Centre Melbourne presents programming and as required to external hire/program presenters. The breadth of programming extends to the PR campaigns you would create and deliver in a dynamic and fast-paced environment – everything from families programming and contemporary music, through to circus, drama and musical theatre.

To be successful you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, public relations and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience in generating high levels of media exposure/PR through mainstream, niche, online and social media channels
  • Extensive experience in an arts, entertainment, tourism, hospitality or related industry as a publicist or journalist
  • Substantial knowledge of the media landscape
  • Experience providing expert advice to management and extended team
  • A demonstrated ability to maintain strong, positive and productive stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to represent an organisation and the ability to develop and articulate strategies to a broad range at stakeholders
