Guardian Australia (www.theguardian.com/au) launched in May 2013 as part of Guardian News & Media (GNM), one of the largest English language newspaper websites in the world (www.theguardian.com).

We are seeking an experienced administrator to join the operations team as editorial assistant/receptionist.

You will be responsible for the quick and efficient booking of travel, managing the newsroom roster and ensuring communications with members of the public are handled sensitively. You will also manage the weekly processing of payments to freelancers, reviewing expense claims and completing month end financial tasks such as reconciliations.

You will work closely with suppliers such as building management, cleaning supplier and onsite security to ensure the smooth running of the Surry Hills office.  The role also has some reception duties and provides cover when the primary receptionist is on leave.

This position would suit a highly organised, positive, and quality focussed self-starter with previous administrative support experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, attention to detail and a pro-active attitude and approach.
