Hireup is a socially-driven startup using technology to revolutionise the way Australians with disability find, hire and manage their own support workers. Hireup is Australia’s fastest growing tech company, and with such rapid growth we’re looking to expand our small but dedicated team of (big) thinkers, builders, and doers. For our next recruit, we’re looking for a Content Writer to join our Sydney-based Communications Team.
As an organisation with a very personal story at its core, the Content Writer will play an important role as the voice of Hireup. Writing and collaborating on content for all kinds of different channels, including our blog and online presence as well as special purpose pieces, like this one in the Griffith Review. We have strong brand resonance within our community and our writing is a core asset in our work to drive meaningful social change for thousands of people with disability in Australia.
Great communications to us is about more than just marketing and advertising, it’s about looking at the broader picture and listening to the stories within our community in order to start conversations, inspire action and encourage others to share in our vision. Our aim is to use the power of thoughtful, strategic and effective writing to build a community movement that amplifies the voice of Australians with disability. The ideal candidate for Hireup will share these beliefs and know how to use them in fueling the Hireup brand love.

Champion the voice of the Hireup brand through content writing over multiple mediums
Priorities – the work
Strategically align messaging, content and resources across all communications channels to serve multiple stakeholders
Create persuasive messages and compelling stories that inform, entertain, inspire, and engage our community
Adopt the Hireup tone and language, becoming the voice of the organisation
Buy into the vision and passion that drives our work and imbue this in all your writing
Use a strong sense of the creative when it comes to writing, putting a smile on someone’s face with your turn of phrase or word choice
Speech writing, inspiring thought leadership
Management of content for the Hireup blog
Development and maintenance of the Hireup resources and policies for our community
Ensure all work is clear, accurate, intelligent and on-brand
Skills – the person
Bachelor’s degree or above and 3+ years in a related role
Have an exciting portfolio of past work, campaigns, content and creative projects that set the benchmark for creative excellence
Have a passion for storytelling through multiple forms of written media with creative impact
Strong experience in SEO
Have excellent writing skills with an eye for detail and a quick wit
Ability to learn on the fly and exercise intellectual agility
Inclined towards taking initiative in a collaborative and integrated way to build solutions within the team and wider company/community
Experience in or interest in building an understanding of the Australian disability sector and community
Strong attention to detail
Approach work with high-energy, drive and internal motivation
Exhibit adaptability, resilience, transparency, trustworthiness, passion and innate curiosity
