If you’ve spent time in the Docklands recently, there’s a strong chance you may have walked past Medibank‘s office numerous times before, but you either indulged in one too many bevs or had your face pressed up against your phone screen to really pay attention.

Or maybe, you’re just a pleb who wouldn’t know good architecture if it hit you in the face. Either way, there’s truly something special about this futuristic building, and it’s as progressive as it is stunning.

Situated in the Docklands, you may know it as “the building with a vertical garden”, as honest to God that’s what I referred to it as up until roughly 12 hours ago. Take a peruse of the structural marvel below.

Rumour has it they drew inspiration from that Jumanji (1995) scene where those weird ass vines straight-up try to murder Judy & Peter

520 plants can be found on the exterior of the office (and an additional 2,300 plants inside to really drive the message home), which means this is one of the very few buildings that would benefit from being sprayed with a hose. I tried to spray the side of my neighbour’s house once and now I “legally can’t go within 300 meters of him or his pets”.

These stairs are guaranteed to give you serious quad goals

The office offers 26 different types of work environments, with the overarching goal to encourage movement and activity as Medibank’s employers work. You thought a gym ball at your desk was inspiring? You may as well puncture it and throw it out the window (ensuring nobody’s walking by below, there’s nothing worse than copping a gym ball to the head).

Not entirely sure what’s going on here but loving the colours nonetheless

If you thought you’d get away with pulling a sneaky and taking the elevator instead, Medibank’s about 70 steps ahead of you. They’ve made stairs the easiest method of getting from floor to floor, so you’ll just look like the laziest person on earth if they catch you making a B-line for the lifts.

I will fight anyone who doesn’t find this aesthetically pleasing

Collaborating with three different designers, the result is a diverse collision of ideas in one hella modern building that genuinely makes ours look like a crack den. An upscale crack den for sure, but still a crack den nonetheless.
