Your Nose Is Chronically Blocked Because You Don’t Sleep Enough, Says Science

If you had trouble breathing through your nose this morning, take a good, hard look at bed – ‘cos you’re not spending enough time in it.
Several studies published recently in US academic journal, and relevant bedtime reading material, SLEEP have proven that those who snooze <6 hrs, lose and are at risk of “increased susceptibility to the common cold”, of which symptoms include a blocked nose, sore throat, frequent sneezing, or all of the above.
Sux to be a sleepyhead’s sinus, basically.
They came to this by monitoring the sleeping habits of 164 healthy volunteers of both genders, aged 18-55 (i.e. a good sample), for a week.
Participants were then quarantined and administered with nasal drops containing rhinovirus (THEY DID WHAT?!), and then watched closely over the next five days for development of cold and flu-like symptoms.
They found:
<5 hrs of sleep = 4.5 times more likely to get ill
5 to 6 hrs of sleep = 4.24 times more likely to get ill
6.01 to 7 hrs of sleep = 1.66 times more likely to get ill

If you do get >7 hrs of sleep and still can’t breathe out of your nose – thennnnn ¯_(?_?)_/¯, plz consult a medical professional.
