Yoga Wheels Are Here To Make You A Bendy & Strong Gumby Person

Health, wellness and fitness are basically what we live for in the 2010’s. Did GOOP start this trend? Can we blame Gwyneth? Who knows. What I do know is that I have been sucked into a myriad of fitness and health trends over the years, from coconut water to barre class to infrared saunas.

The latest trend – it’s actually a top Pinterest trend at the moment, which is how I discovered it – are yoga wheels. As far as fads go, these actually make sense – they’re essentially a tool that helps you get more out of a yoga or stretching sesh.

Dharma Yoga Wheel is crediting themselves as having invented the tool, way back in 2014. Their site explains it’s use.

The yoga wheel is a effective and fun way to open the chest, shoulders, back, and hip-flexors. It also develops balance, strength, and flexibility. The yoga/fitness exercise wheel is used to help beginners and advanced yoga practitioners achieve back-bends and loosen tight muscles before yoga class.

Basically, you use the wheel to enhance your stretches, but also to nail yoga moves you may not be able to nail without it’s assistance.

It’s also useful for adding a balancing challenge to your existing yoga routine, much like using a ball does.

Dharma Yoga also has tutorial videos on how to use the wheel. My particular favourite is this one about opening your back. I LOVE OPENING MY BACK.

Maybe one day I will be able to do this without fear of dying:

You can pick up one of their yoga wheels here, by the way – yep, they ship to Australia.
