Yo Sydney, You’re Getting A Water-Tasting Bar Dedicated To H20 Appreciation

Guess what, fair folk of olde Sydney town? You’re getting your very own tasting bar dedicated solely to water.
Boom! It has arrived in town!

Before you throw your flamin’ arms in the air and declare that our fair nation has reached peak yuppiedom, it’s not as pretentious as it sounds.

It’s an experimental art installation called H20: Water Bar, and it’s the brainchild of Sydney-based artist and Aussie rep for the 2015 Climate Change Conference, Janet Laurence, thats aim is to make us really think about where our precious life-force is coming from.
Pretty important, really, when you consider your body is made up of at least 60% of the stuff.
The bar will be going up in the rarely-opened Paddington Reservoir Gardens, where thirsty patrons are invited to enter a science lab-like room, with walls lined by vessels filled with an exotic variety of waters from many different springs across Australia you can try for yourself.
The fine drops will mostly be from the eastern side of Australia, from Queensland to Tasmania, which is good news for the tastebuds of anyone unfortunate enough to have experienced Adelaide‘s tap water.
The installation will also host discussions, performances, debates and film screenings around the issue, all in a bid to get us wet about our precious resources. Laurence will speak, as well as Dr Georgia Woods (climate-change/water expert and Greenpeace campaigner) and environmental activist/author Bill McKibben.
The installation is part of Art & About Sydney (it’s free, yeehaw!), and will be running from February 13 – 28.
