In the first episode of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, the 2003 reality TV show starring Jessica Simpson and hubbie Nick Lachey, the famous blonde asked a question that would go down in pop culture history.
Curled up on the couch, Simpson asks of her dinner, “Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish?”
“I know it’s tuna, but, it says ‘Chicken by the Sea’. Is that stupid?” she asks Lachey.
At the time, we all laughed at the Dukes of Hazzard star’s naivety. But fourteen years on, the tables have well and truly turned.
US health food store Whole Foods is recalling around 200kg of buffalo chicken salad after the chain’s employees discovered that it actually contained tuna — a known allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
In light of this, Simpson took to Instagram to commiserate by posting a headline and tagging the chain, writing ‘It happens to the best of us @wholefoods‘.
Does Simpson have ESPN!? Did she know this was going to happen, and thus had this joke in the can?! Surely.
It’s not the first time Simpson has thrown back to the famous quip.
In 2016, she posted piss-take a meme, proving that while she’s no good at identifying her proteins, she’s good at not taking things too seriously.
