Tassie Man Breaks World Record By Doing 851 Burpees, Which Is Too Many

A Tasmanian man has broken the world record for the most chest-t0-ground burpees completed in a single hour by doing 851 of them, which is far too many.

Charlie Gard obliterated the previous Guinness World Record on Sunday by 70, telling ABC News that he’d been preparing for the attempt for a little while now. “I did a few more than I did in training so I was pretty happy with that,” he told them. “I knew it was going to sting a bit more if I went about it a bit harder.” No shit, you did too many burpees, mate.

As you can see in the clip above, the gym kept the crowd back with police tape because even they know that anything more than 3 to 5 burpees is actually a crime. Burpees suck, dude.

“It’s certainly going to take a lot of mental strength, and it’s definitely an expression of a tremendous amount of capacity,” Hobart gym owner Drummond Williamson told ABC News.

Old mate was cheered on by a crowd of people including family and friends. Gard’s motivation for doing 846 more burpees than the legally sane limit was to raise money for prostate cancer research after his wife’s father was diagnosed with the disease. His everydayhero page is currently sitting just under $7,000.

In all seriousness, that’s one hell of an effort, so kudos to Gard, his fundraising efforts, and for doing so many repetitions of what is arguably the worst exercise known to man.
