Six Fire Activewear Looks That You Can Actually Work Out In

PEDESTRIAN.TV are gearing up for the Official Blackmores Sydney Running Festival by making sure y’all look / feel the part before getting amongst their Superfoods range and hitting the track. For more info hit up Blackmores Running HERE or set yourself a challenge and sign up for the run HERE.

Activewear is at it’s peak y’all.

The new wave of health-consciousness that’s currently crashing on our shores means you can be sweaty and stylin’ all at the same time, rather than sacrificing one for the other (as plenty of us have been victim to in the past).

We hooked up with Stylerunner.com + Blackmores to fitspire y’all with some A+ exercise looks ahead of the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, all of which are as functional as they are flattering, below. While you witness the fitness, be sure to jot down the essential functions you need within each piece of your activewear get-up.

1. PREPARED-FOR-ERRYTHANG TRAINING JACKET

Shock horror, you guys: exercise isn’t always done within the four walls and warmth of a gym. With summer and consequently unpredictable weather on the horizon, you need an A+ jacket so you’re prepared for rain, hail or shine wind.

We recommend Dri-FIT technology (the brainchild of Nike) which is a microfiber polyester that moves sweat off of your bod and onto the surface of the jacket, where it’s then able to evaporate and piss right off. Translate: this material keeps you dry and comfortable enough to enable high performance.

Also, the last thing you wanna deal with when you get hot and bothered is pulling off a hoodie that gets all stuck around your head. No thnx. You need a zip-down piece so there’s no clothing-shaped obstacles getting in your grill, and a zip that goes right up on a slightly raised neckline to keep the chills out.

2. DAMNNN SUN (PROTECTION)

Casey wears: 2XU VisorNike Court Dress.

If you’re going to go on the fruitful journey towards a healthy lifestyle, you don’t want any hiccups like sunburn getting in your way. It’s semi-hard to focus when you’ve got a face that could pass as a Birkin rip-off anyway tbh. If you’re not really a hat person opt for a visor instead, ’cause it will work with whatever updo you’re feeling on the day. To avoid the pain of it digging right on into your head opt for a velcro strap to the back.

3. SUPPORT FOR THE TWINS

Please don’t exercise in your raunch Sat-night lacys. Just… don’t. A good sports bra is like an A+ friend: hard to find, supportive and will never leave you hanging lel. Gravity, however, ain’t nobody’s BFF, especially when you’re running like the wind, Bullseye. Besides, the sports bra has quickly become the focal point of every great activewear ensemb – you work everything else around it.

4. COMPRESSION TOIGHTS

Casey wears: Nike Tech Fleece Cape FZ KnitSkins DNAmic Long TightsNike Free Connect.

There’s a reason Skins are such a household name, and its because they’re bloody good at what they do. The Dynamic Compression technology is A+ at driving performance / assisting recovery, while also featuring an elastic waistband for that much-needed support, mesh panelling for breathability, and moisture management for weather conditions or, er, sweat. Great for every type of training, espesh running.

5. PUMPED UP KICKS

The sage Marilyn Monroe once said, “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world.” Albeit she was probs talking about high heels (because apparently there’s some kind of association to women there), but the same idea can be applied to trainers and, like, both genders. Footwear is the single most important thing when it comes to exercise – you need that support and cushioning. No way around it. End of story. Period.

Now that you’re sorted on the kit front, let Blackmores give y’all the right tools / programs to give the threads a proper workout by heading HERE.

Oh, and If you’re one of those people who use your activewear to run errands not paces (guilty), hopefully y’now realise that this hidden functionality shouldn’t be put to waste in aisle 3.
