There are two kinds of people in this world: those who are grossed out by videos of gigantic pimples being expertly expunged, and those who love them beyond reason.
If you’re a member of the second camp, you’re probably already familiar with Dr Sandra Lee, aka Dr Pimple Popper. A dermatologist who specialises in extractions, the Doc has 2.3 million Instagram followers, and her YouTube videos – with titles like “Big. Back. Blackheads“, “Blackhead Field of Dreams” and “A huge cyst like a DOORKNOB” – regularly clock millions of views.
People love this zit-obliterating maniac! Even though she ominously tells you to “turn sound on” in heaps of her Instagram captions!
Now Dr Lee is launching what’s the only logical next step: her own line of acne-zapping skincare.
Called the SLMD Skincare line (it stands for Sandra Lee, M.D.), there are six products all up: the Acne Cleanser, the Daily Facial Moisturiser, the Acne Lotion with Benzoyl Peroxide, the Clarifying Treatment With Retinol, the Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30, and an Acne Spot Treatment that launched late last year.
On her website, Dr Lee says she designed the skincare line to:
“Bridge this gap between a doctor’s visit and a trip down the skincare aisle by providing safe and effective solutions that I would actually prescribe to patients in my own Dermatology office.”
Sure enough, the range uses skin-improving ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, vitamins C and E and retinol – standard stuff for skincare junkies, but a significant step up from most drugstore brands.
