Nix Your Shite Sleeping Habits With iOS 10’s Genius Bedtime Reminders

There’s a special kind of darkness reserved for weekday mornings when your iPhone‘s Radar alarm jolts you from your sleep.
First, there’s disbelief (how is it actually 7:30am already?), then doubt (no, surely this is a mistake, it’s not 7:30am) and finally, despair (it fucken is 7:30am, do I even really need gainful employment and/or a university degree in my life?).
Thankfully, Apple have listened to your muffled cries and have introduced some nifty new features in the iOS10 update, namely Bedtime Reminders and Gentle Wakeups.
If you have trouble sticking to a routine bedtime slash waking up, these updates are for you. The names say it all – Bedtime Reminders works to give you an idea of how much sleep you’re clocking, and will gently nudge ya if you’re getting into a late-night YouTube k-hole.
Gentle Wakeups is a special kind of genius, too. It utilises new alarm sounds with blessed names like Early Riser, Birdsong and First Light, giving you a better chance at waking up devoid of bubbling, existential rage.
up and at ’em babey
First off, you’ve gotta download iOS 10. If you’re out and about right now, best you wait until you’re home and plugged into power – it takes about 3hrs to d/l (which is how you know it’s a spicy meatball of an update).
Once your mobile device is rearing to go with the fresh new software, here’s how you get around:
Jump into the Clock app, and check out the new moody colour scheme

So fresh! So new! Nothing screams I plan on going to bed at a reasonable hour like an app that looks like the darkness of night itself.
Choose how many hours you need, and iPhone will do the math

No one knows your body better than you. While adults need 7 to 8 hours a night, you might be more of a 6 hour type. Whatever your persuasion, Apple’s got you sorted.

Get around the bedtime reminders, too
Miss living at home with your parents and being nagged to hit the hay? Relive the glorious days of your youth with this feature!

Keep up with your sleeping patterns visually

Once you’ve started using this feature frequently, you’ll be able to track your day, week and monthly sleep patterns in the Health app as well. Too bloody good.
