Hopper From ‘Stranger Things’ Is Now Ripped To Shit And Here’s His Workout

One of the most shocking reveals of Stranger Things Season 2 has very little to do with the plotline and everything to do with Chief of Police Jim Hopper‘s huge, bulging biceps.

The small-town cop was, let’s face it, a bit of a weirdly attractive schlub in Season 1. But it seems actor David Harbour has traded in his dad bod for a ripped rig in a glow-up of Chris Pratt proportions.

Harbour, 42, hit the gym with celebrity trainer Don Saladino, who has been singing his client’s praises to The New York Post.

He’s someone who’s obviously very artistic, but I saw him turn into just a monster, pushing weight and pulling weight. Dave never complained about anything. I think he just loved how strong he was getting.

Harbour increased his workouts when he landed the lead role in the upcoming reboot of comic book movie Hellboy, which resulted in him achieving the kind of abdominal situation that most of us can only dream of.

The trainer, who has also worked with Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson, Liev Schreiber and various Victoria’s Secret models, gave The New York Post some insight into exactly how he sculpted our m8 Hopper into a god-like creature made entirely of muscle.

The outlet reports that Harbour ramped up his frequency to five or six workouts a week for nine weeks, with Saladino running him through exercises including the bear crawl (which involves scrambling around on all fours to work the shoulders and oblique muscles) and the sled push, which obviously requires you to push a weighted sled in front of you – a move Saladino calls one of Harbour’s favourites.

Saladino told the Post that he swears by what he calls a “suitcase carry”. All you need for this one is two heavy kettlebells, which you hold down by your sides as you perform functional moves like lunges, or even just, er, walk in a straight line.

“It has a cardiovascular component, and when you’re carrying weights you’re burning fat,” Saladino says. “It’s one of the most effective and most underused exercises.”

Saladino kindly shared an informative video starring his extremely buff client, which we’ve watched repeatedly for ~research purposes~. Promise.

Bonus points for the Stranger Things-themed workout gear, Davo.

Because he’s a kind and giving sort of person, Saladino has posted loads more vids on his Instagram if you want to DIY the Hellboy workout at your local sweatbox, or if you’re just keen for a perve.
