Hold onto your tighty-whites folks, ’cause the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is t-minus a few hours away from going down.
All of the underwear-brandishing angels (like Stella Maxwell, Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid), have now touched down in Paris via private jet and are currently in rehearsals. Once the big day is filmed, it’ll be watched by around 10 million people around the globe.
So naturally, they’ve been working out.
With activewear being a main stalwart of the VS brand, each angel’s fitness regime has gotta be pretty tight. The pressure is on, and newly-minted wing-haver Bella Hadid has been open with her fitness journey leading up to the event, even saying that she feels she’s lost too much weight. Genetics play a grossly unfair part in the girls looking so Amazonian, but strength training and healthy eating is just as integral.
Here’s your wrap up of how all your fave supermodels have been working out ahead of the big day.
MARTHA HUNT – DOGPOUND WORKOUT
27-year-old Martha has graced the VS catwalk three times so far, and judging but her intense workout, this year probably won’t be her last either.
Working out at New York fitness institution Dogpound, Martha clearly pushes herself to the limits to achieve her incredible figure. Dogpound’s so exclusive, a 1hr session with one of their trainers will set you back $175 US dollars.
JOAN SMALLS – POLE DANCING
Doing the same exercise day in, day out, gets boring as ferk. Joan knows this. That’s why she hit up some pole dancing classes with fellow VS mate Lily Donaldson, and kindly posted the results to Insta.
Pole dancing is a whole body workout that promotes muscular strength and muscle endurance. A pole newbie can expect to burn between 290 and 400 calories an hour, while an advanced twirler could burn anything up to 700 calories in one session.
LAIS RIBEIRO – STRENGTH TRAINING
Brazilian supermodel Lais is about to kill her second go at the VS catwalk. She loves a good Boomerang on Instagram, and used the function to document her gruelling strength training routines:
Proving strength training is absolutely integral in building a curvy, strong figure, Lais hit the weights with Martha Hunt and fellow Brazilian goddess Adriana Lima.
IZABEL GOULART – REFORMER PILATES
Another Brazilian-born beauty, Izabel Goulart, has been a Victoria’s Secret model for a whopping ten years.
The big day is coming… Tomorrow #VSFashionShow ??! Follow my Pilates session with @VogueParis. Thank you French Vogue for following my everyday workout??! #BodyByIza no pilates! Amanhã é o grande dia galera #VSFashionShow! Adorei dividir com vocês um pouco da minha preparação pré desfile !Obrigada @vogueparis ! Directed by @fredpruchon, written by @hugocmpn. Thank you to @studiopilates16. @victoriassecret #BodyByIza #pilates #stretch #strenght #trainlikeanangel #vogueparis #victoriassecret #vsfashionshow
Reformer pilates is one of Iza’s workouts of choice, as it promotes length, strength, flexibility, and balance. Reformer involves both pushing and pulling movements making it a full-body toning exercise.
JASMINE TOOKES – SQUATS SQUATS SQUATS
Jasmine is the star of this year’s show as she’s set to wear the fabled $3 million dollar Fantasy Bra:
Bestowed with the highest honour, Jasmine’s become a full-blown squatzilla in the lead up to the show. Squats are the compound exercise of dreams, as they improve almost every facet of your physicality, from lower body strength, to balance, to flexibility.
SARA SAMPIO – STAND UP PADDLE BOARDING
25-year-old Sara is a Portuguese powerhouse, having modelled consistently for the past decade.
Stand-up paddle boarding (or SUP for short) is her outdoor workout of choice.
Like the majority of the angels’ workouts, SUP is a full body workout, but it requires damn good balance – an important skill for those who are about to walk in heels.
LILY ALDRIDGE – BALLET BEAUTIFUL
Lily is something of a veteran at VS, with this year marking the 31-year-old’s 8th walk.
Lily was joined by Gigi and Ballet Beautiful founder Mary Helen Bowers as they posed for a pic mid-stretch. “No room left in the gym, no problem,” Lily wrote.
Ballet Beautiful is a workout that’s described as “graceful, ballet-inspired full body exercise routine that employs a robust combination of upper and lower-body target-toning moves with concentrated abdominal exercises to activate the core, burn fat, and challenge all of the major muscles of body.” Lily is a big fan of the method; you can work out alongside her using the method, thanks to this nifty YouTube vid.
MARIA BORGES – WORKOUTS IN HEELS & BASKETBALL
Boxing in stilettos is not something your average joe is used to doing, but it’s a sound choice for someone who’s about to have a bazillion people watching them walk in high heels.
Knowing this, Maria trains in god damned heels. It is a sight to behold.
Further cementing her place as the most badass, Maria also takes to the bball court to throw in some cardio.
BEHATI PRINSLOO LEVINE – PLANKS
Similar to the squat, the plank is a classic workout move that tones the entire body, and requires no equipment at all; just focus.
CANDICE SWANEPOEL – AERIAL SILKS
Candice is one of the most recognisable faces of the VS brand, and there’s no guessing why. Her hip to waist ratio is naturally ridiculous, but her toned physique is also aided by aerial silks.
First made proper mainstream by your mum’s favourite singer, Pink, aerial silks are a gravity-defying workout tool that look a bit more like an art form than exercise. Fantastic for stretching and flexibility, you can try your hand at the practice at tonnes of Aussie yoga studios, like this one.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on Channel 9 on December 8th at 8:30pm.
