Evacuate The Country: 40C Heat Wave Imminent, Will Scorch All In Its Path

Just as Noah built an ark to escape the biblical floods, it’s time to start making preparations for ‘Straya‘s heat-death.
1) Chuck a sickie tomorrow and get to building an eski big enough to fit your entire family.
2) Jump in and close the lid behind you, because the sun’s about to start spittin’ fireballs down on us.
The country is set to experience apocalyptic levels of heat from Wednesday onwards, with high pressure systems meaning the heat may last into next weekend.
We’re talkin’ temps close to 40C in the majority of capital cities.
Sydney will experience an 8-degree jump from 30C on Thursday to 38C on Friday, and Brisbane’s getting four consecutive days of 30C+ from Wednesday, according to the weather prophets at the Bureau of Meteorology.

Adelaide will peak earlier, with 38C on Wednesday, and Melbourne will remain the chillest, peaking on Thursday with a comparatively-pretty-cool-but-still-hot 34C.
In its climate outlook for November, the B.O.M predicted an 80% chance that 7 of 8 cities would exceed their median maximum temperature, but it seemed unlikely as the month began, what with the recent episodes of insane wet-weather events like the descent of “shelf clouds” and the flash vicpocalypse.
Nek minnit we’re getting second degree burns from the sun.
TL;DR? Find yourself an AC and camp out in front of it – this one’s coming in hot.
