Adidas Pick Up Yr Litter & Drop Sneaker That’s 95% Plastic Ocean Trash

Take a stroll down your local beach and you’ll no doubt encounter some trash.
No, I’m not talking about that wasted British backpacker face down in the sand in St Kilda; we’re talking real garbage trash.
Water bottles, souvlaki wrappers, empty voddy Cruisers and the random plugga are just a few of the classic kinds of litter you’ll come across on most Australian beaches. Not only is it disgusting, it’s toxic to our oceans; anyone who has seen Finding Nemo and has a heart would know this.
Sportswear giant Adidas are grossed out by the fact that there’s roughly 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic in the oceans today, so they’ve done something about it.
They’ve created the UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley.
this is trash
Partnering up with slick non-profit Parley for the Oceans, Adidas have created 7,000 pairs of running shoe, with 95% of the material used being fished from the Maldives.
They’re starting off by selling 7,000 pairs for $220 a pop, but their aim is to sell 1 million pairs of the sneakers from more than 11 million plastic bottles, further cementing the brand’s commitment to playing a role in cleaning up our marine landscape and acknowledging the very real thing that is climate change.

Ocean trash shoes. As fucked as it is that we got ourselves into this mess in the first place, it’s refreshing to see some big dog brands doing something about it.
