Burger was a popular fitness and lifestyle influencer in France, with 55,000 fans on Facebook and 154,000 followers on Instagram.
A whipped cream dispenser works by injecting pressurised gas into a metal container. According to the BBC, French consumer groups have warned in the past about faulty connectors which can cause the gas capsules to launch out at a high speed. At least one manufacturer has issued a product recall.
Injures such as fractured ribs and sternums as well as at least one case of a lost eye have been reported in the past. “I had six broken ribs, and my sternum was broken,” one victim told RTE radio.
“At the hospital, I was told that if the shock and blast had been facing the heart, I would be dead now.”
