PEDESTRIAN.TV have teamed up with World Vision for their epic Run India challenge. Melbourne endurance athlete Samantha Gash will be sprinting across India (clocking up a whopping 3800kms along the way, mind you) to raise $$$ that will help tackle the barriers to education that a lot of young children face. Along the way, Sam will be visiting communities and sharing their stories. You can get involved too – by signing up HERE to run solo or with a team of mates to run virtually with Sam.
Nothing gets the blood and endorphins pumpin’ like a good, solid run, but dang the activity can be a tad repetitive, no?
That’s why you’ve gotta spice it up in the same way you would a 15-year marriage, but instead of slippy on a lacy teddy and lighting some candles, a banger-heavy playlist can do the trick.
Besides, it’s scientifically argued that listening to certain music while running can boost your performance by 15% (if you’re not an elite athlete which, let’s face it, is unlikely) – it’s all about finding songs that play between that 120-140 BPM (beats per minute) sweet spot. If you don’t have two left feet and you can keep to the beat, you’ll probably have a far better time on the track.
212 – AZEALIA BANKS (126 BPM)
Not for the faint of ear or the prude, Banks’ most popular tune to date is undoubtably 212. It’s hard to listen to this and not feel badass. Feeling badass = running faster.
CALL ON ME – ERIC PRYDZ (126 BPM)
INFINITY 2008 – JOSH GURU PROJECT (128BPM)
EASY LOVER – PHIL COLLINS (128BPM)
TELL ME WHY – SUPERMODE (130BPM)
Like Infinity 2008, Tell Me Why is firm noughties fodder, complete with a daggy video clip. Try to listen to this without tapping your foot. Damn near impossible, I say.
9PM (TIL I COME) – ATB (130 BPM)
TALK LIKE THAT – THE PRESETS (135 BPM)
Ya bois The Presets are Australian electronic royalty who well and truly peaked at the backend of the ’00s. This song was a particular personal favourite – and I listen to it every damn time I go for a run.
SANDSTORM – DARUDE (136 BPM)
JAI HO! – THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS (136 BPM)
Really, is there anything more motivating than Nicole Scherzinger‘s absolute #riggoals? Woman is a powerhouse.
