WATCH: Turns Out Top-Tier Competitive Tetris Is A Wildly Stressful Event

Each year since 2010, the best Tetris players in the world have headed to Portland, Oregon, where they go head-to-head to see who is the ultimate champion. For seven of the eight years the Classic Tetris World Championship has been running, a man named Jonas Neubauer has taken the crown, but this year, things didn’t quite work out for the reigning champ.

The new lord of NES Tetris is 16-year-old Joseph Saelee, who secured all three games in the finals to win the series. While you might find the classic game to be a relaxing experience, high-tier competitive Tetris is the complete opposite, it’s actually stressful as all fuck. Look at how fast they go in the clip below. LOOK.

That is some high-level gear right there, folks. Saelee is simply too good at stacking those digital block. You can only imagine that his closet at home is immaculately stacked.

Despite being quite new to the competitive scene, old mate has been making waves, particularly when he hit the classic game’s wild level 31, making 311 lines just before the championships. You can suss that out below.

Congratulations to our new Tetris overlord. May his blocks be plentiful and his lines righteous. I reckon his mates will be hitting him up for stacking advice when moving house from now on.
